Renee Gilbert, PhD
I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology and Director of the GROWTH lab. I earned my B.A. and M.A. in psychology from Stony Brook University, and my Ph.D. in Clinical Child Psychology from University of Kansas. I am passionate about mentoring students and trainees as they develop into thoughtful, compassionate clinicians and scientists committed to evidence-based, culturally responsive care for children and families. My research examines how children and families experience positive adaptation following trauma, with a particular focus on posttraumatic growth, health equity and the social and environmental factors that shape long-term health and well-being. Ultimately, my goal is to generate research that informs interventions, policies and systems of care that help children and families not only recover from adversity, but thrive.
